A statue of Baal from 4th cent. B.C. discovered in Amanthus, Cyprus; now in Istanbul Archaeological Museum. Baal was the chief deity of Phoenicians, and this god's properties became a model for every holy script from the holy lands for the definition of the devil himself. Another photo I don't like that much for the lack of quality, but with an interesting subject.
I think the Phoenicians have never existed as a people. It 'an error of the Greeks. In fact they were different people, known as the Sea Peoples. Baal is the god Marduk of these peoples.
